Lucid Dreaming
Introduction
Well, lucid dreaming is not really tough to comprehend: as the
introduction mentions, lucid dreaming is just dreaming while
being conscious that you’re having a dream. You can consider
lucid dreaming as having cognizance while dreaming. If,
inadvertently, while dreaming, it all of a sudden strikes you
that you’re having a dream, then you have had a lucid dream,
irrespective of whether you’ve been capable of having
dominance over your dream. Generally, lucid dreaming is
brought on by some kind of prompt - something that shows a
person that she or he is indeed having a dream, and it’s not
real. However, prompts are not required for turning lucid: at
times people of their own volition turn lucid without
detecting anything unusual or characteristic of dreams. Now,
lucid dreaming is an extremely straightforward concept but for
many it will require endurance and resolve to attain.
Most people appear to be in the dark about how a lucid dream
differs from controlling a dream. Having the ability to
unrestrainedly control one’s dream doesn’t actually mean one
becomes lucid: one can experience a lucid dream in the absence
of any kind of control. Controlling a dream simply means going
to the subsequent level, by striving to influence your
environment.
Misconceptions
As not much is known about lucid dreaming, there are several
misconceptions that surround it, such as:
Lucid dreaming is unconventional
As the introduction mentions, most people when initially made
acquainted with the concept, write it off as being wacky and
too unconventional. Actually, lucid dreaming is anything you
wish it to be - as, considering, they are what you dream off -
and does not inevitably be discredited by being referred to as
unconventional.” This article provides an extremely practical
analysis of lucid dreaming together with realistic reasons as
to why one would wish to try to lucid dream.
Lucid dreaming promotes escapism
Another false impression lies in that lucid dreaming promotes
escapism. This article does not in any way support escapism.
Lucid dreaming takes place while you are asleep; it is not
intended at all to interfere with your real world involvement.
In fact, going through a book or viewing a film will remove
you from reality more than what lucid dreaming does. The
thought that lucid dreaming promotes escapism is justifiable
only when one tries to get more sleep to bring on lucid
dreams. This article only proposes that one keep a good sleep
pattern to encourage lucid dreams – seven or eight hours every
night on average is advised.
Lucid dreaming is weird, involves supernatural beliefs or dark
arts
Certain ill-advised people instantly take for granted lucid
dreaming should be a shady practice; this is really
ridiculous. These kinds of accusations directly stem from fear
of the unfamiliar - this article intends to dismiss such lack
of knowledge. There is nothing essentially amiss or dubious
about lucid dreaming; rather, there are numerous healthy
reasons to perform it. People who think otherwise ought to
first find out about it prior to coming to conclusions.
Dreams hold messages that disappear with lucid dreaming
Lastly, most people take an uncompromising stand against lucid
dreaming on the basis of their conviction that our dreams
attempt to convey something to us, and such messages disappear
when we attempt to change our dreams. Now that’s a sound
stance to take, but nevertheless, that thought is not wholly
true. Firstly, the majority of people that strive to
experience lucid dreams just have them intermittently – maybe
a couple of times a month. Quite a few apparently will
experience them more frequently (maybe many times per week or
even per night) but once again for the greater part, on
average, people who try lucid dreaming still experience a
greater number of non-lucid dreams as compared to lucid ones.
Perhaps a more convincing detail is that becoming dexterous at
lucid dreaming calls for terrific dream recall. Therefore,
while practicing to turn lucid in dreams you’re also boosting
your ability to recall dreams, which consequentially will make
available to you more impressive dreams to sort through in
quest of buried insight. Thus, one can carry out lucid
dreaming and even so achieve sufficient “regular” dreams in
order that she or he should not be concerned about something
vital being lost.
Lucidity Levels and Dream Control
Well, lucid dreaming is described as being conscious that you
are having a dream; however, the real level of consciousness
differs. With high lucidity levels you are extremely mindful
that nothing you go through is true, and you recognize that
you’ve nothing to be concerned about - you cannot be hurt by
any situations which appear hazardous. With low lucidity
levels, even though you are to some extent conscious you’re
dreaming, you aren’t sufficiently conscious to have an immense
effect on the dream - you might acknowledge a few portions of
your dream which you wouldn’t usually acknowledge in the
regular world (you might not think it at all weird that your
cat flies around the dining room, so on.) With low lucidity
levels your awareness may also disappear fast and you may
acknowledge the entire dream as reality.
Then again, achieving lucidity does not straight away indicate
you’re able to dominate your dreams. As we will talk about it
later, plenty of practice is essential to exercise and retain
control. Evidently you have excellent chances of holding sway
over your dreams with high awareness levels, but even so it
might be impossible to exercise such control, at least, in the
beginning. While experience plays a role in how best you
control your dreams, the secret lies in your own conviction
and self-assurance. If you are not confident about your
dreams, you might not be successful in having power over them
- if you imagine in your dream that you’re unable do
something, it’s highly possible that you wouldn’t be able to.
However, rather than altering the dream, you could just
regulate your own conduct. Such sort of dream control indeed
is very helpful when you have nightmares. Instead of trying to
alter the dream, you could alter your own behavior. By
recognizing it’s only a dream and indeed no physical harm can
befall you, you can put to rest your apprehensions, which is
the purely actual part of a nightmare. Altering your way of
thinking like this normally changes a nightmare into something
slightly more serene as well. |
