Why Do We
Experience Scary Dreams?
"Hey, I had the eeriest dream the previous night," is an
expression I regularly hear. Seldom do I catch, "Oh, I had a
standard dream,” Still, if somebody started to talk in
Mandarin, we would also think that it sounded odd, unless we
had spent time to study the terminology, grammar, folklore,
and culture of Mandarin. The same is with dreams. True that we
spend time to master what symbols represent, the associative
reason of dreams and a few rules and distinctions between
sleeping and waking awareness.
Usually, dreams communicate in a multi-faceted lingo of
emotions, pictures and multi-stage links instead of direct
terms and ideas. Bernie Siegel, M.D., author states "When our
intellect and our bodies connect continuously with each other,
a great deal of this communication happens on an unconscious
stage. This is the reason why I regularly counsel patients to
begin logging dreams, since the body is unable to communicate
apart from using signs."
Dreams frequently occur as a sequence, all through the night,
perhaps for a couple of nights in succession, and/or within
certain normal phase of weeks or time of year. Besides, they
are also closely interrelated with occurrences that took place
in the life of the dreamer, and frequently even with
occurrences that are still to come about (which can render
accurate analysis a extremely difficult). Edgar Cayce
prudently maintained that one should "analyze the dreamer"
instead of merely the dream alone. Attempting to comprehend a
lone one-off dream having no life background or studying other
dreams may be much like striving to make sense of a weekly
program from a solitary episode - not futile, but perhaps
fairly not complete.
The dreams are intended to help you in the waking state, and
thus those that are of utmost significance to reflect on,
comprehend and execute are dreams that constantly recur,
nightmares, and dreams that you have requested or incubated.
Or else, any dream which has a powerful influence on you or
vividly remains with you - particularly the dream you recall
only moments before arising in the morning - together with
dreams or fragments of dreams that unexpectedly happen to you
later on in the day, certainly are the dreams, which your
unconscious is striving to reveal to your conscious. Dreams
that have a strong positive influence and make you feel
enthused, motivated or even totally mesmerized can be grasped,
but better still they can be incorporated and have their
positive influence amplified if you communicate them
imaginatively (just like this copy’s exercise) by permitting
them to flower into verse, painting, sculpture, anecdote,
song, dance, collage, or any other form of art. This similar
procedure is also a wonderful kind of artistic healing to
convey the apprehension and grim emotions from less enjoyable
dreams.
Take into account the mind stage from which dreams occur,
which is inclined to be quite deep as the nights begins (and
frequently stranger) and nearer to our waking consciousness as
morning draws near (dreams that have greater probability of
giving themselves to mindful comprehension). Firstly seek
simple sensible guidance about our every day schedule like
diet, exercise, and issues you confront at school, office or
in personal relationships, yet hope that more profound
concerns are perhaps also being worked out.
Your own sixth sense is always an excellent source to rely on
for deciphering your dreams, and in addition should have the
final say regarding whether any analysis is justifiable.
According to a Sufi saying, "only a fool takes the words of
another over his own experience." Now this told, dreams are
frequently intended for discussing and it is a routine I
wholly support when carried out in an encouraging, non-biased
ambience. Vivid insights frequently crop up every now and
then, and fascinatingly, these differ in the company of
various people. When you share a dream, aside from recharging
your memory and providing you an opportunity to acquire
insights while looking at it without prejudice, it also makes
you start to become aware how the origin from which dreams
occur is so intelligent that it realizes beforehand who you
encounter on any particular day and frequently produces dreams
that are beneficial, if not at times chiefly meant for people
you afterwards discuss them with. When discussing a dream, or
particularly when you listen to somebody narrating a dream,
pay extra attention to the body language, facial expressions
and voice modulation/variation as these quite frequently
indicate associated unconscious, vibrant elements. |
